RAW MEATY BONES DIET
for
pets:
Our dogs have thrived on
this diet. They don't
have to have their teeth
cleaned due to the
effect of the raw, meaty
bones they get with the
chicken leg quarters,
available very
inexpensively in 10 lb
bags at Wal-Mart, along
with the beef brisquet
slabs we usually divide
in two and give half
among the two of them
for once a week 'feast
day'. Beef livers are
also relatively cheap
there, and they get this
once a week as well.
The idea is to give them
a wide variety. We
don't like to feed them
pork, though many folks
do with success, but we
feel it just isn't the
best meat. Wild game
meat can sometimes be
found from any friends
you might have during
hunting season. The
legs of deer are a
favorite, and a lot of
folks swear by giving
the heads, but I simply
have to draw the line
there personally as I
can't quite stomach even
the idea of that!
If your dog(s) are
reluctant to eat raw
meat at first, then you
may try garlic powder on
the meat to entice
them. Unfortunately,
when a dog is fed
kibble, he gets all
sorts of funky 'smell-acious'
chemicals they add to
get them addicted to the
smell, so they can be
spoiled on that when
trying to switch.
Believe me, they get
over it fast once they
realize how great the
real thing is.
