If hCG causes cancer, why don't all the women who are pregnant get cancer? Further, why would it be considered safe to administer in even higher doses for infertility?
hCG is actually currently being studied for the possibility that it may prevent breast cancer! Pregnancy Hormone May Prevent Breast Cancer
It's 'Kevin Trudeau' who wrote the book Dr. London references, not 'Gary Trudeau' (who is a political cartoonist, author of 'Doonesbury').
Kevin Trudeau is not a lawyer. His infomercial was taken off the air due to charges by the FTC that he stated fraudulently that one could 'eat anything you want' after completing the Protocol. I don't consider this fraudulent as the key word in the statement is 'want'. One doesn't want the same foods after the hypothalamus is re-set, nor in the same quantities.
There is plenty of evidence that hCG is effective in weight reduction: http://hcgobesity.org/research/index.html You will find an annotated bibliography with over 520 references on the subject of weight loss both in general and with the addition of HCG into the protocol.
The studies Dr. London refers to were sponsored by the FDA. The FDA has vested interests, IMHO, in NOT approving a weight reduction protocol that works and the studies were not performed properly using the Simeons menus or monitoring the subjects carefully.
Dr. Gedde had not yet done the Protocol herself as of the filming of this show. She was in the process of preparing to do so in such a way that she would be able to research it personally in order to report her findings in the book she plans to write. This meant much more preparation and planning than otherwise is required to do the Protocol, hence her delay.
A drug company has not and will not 'pick up' hCG as a sponsor because when people have a way to effectively combat obesity, they will lose infinitely more income on the drugs, surgeries, etc. that are associated with obesity than they would make on hCG. It is apparent that 'cures' are not something drug companies are interested in, as evidenced by the unfruitful and apparently unending searches in the realms of cancer, diabetes and other maladies.
It is completely ridiculous to suggest that dosing hCG sublingually results in nothing more than 'placebo effect'. The many people, including me, who have tried so many different methods to reduce weight over many years who finally have had results with hCG cannot be explained by placebo effect. In my case, binge eating most certainly cannot be stopped by a placebo!
The VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) of 500 calories is carefully balanced to provide nutrients and it is strongly recommended that all foods be organic as well. The VLCD is only followed during the reduction phase (Phase 2) of the Protocol, not for the rest of one's life by any means. No one is expected to follow the VLCD without taking hCG, which is only done during the reduction phase and not recommended for longer than 45 days at a time without a maintenance phase break. The Dietician's remarks about being on 500 calories for 5 years revealed her complete ignorance of the Protocol itself!
The 'Registered Dietician' further showed she didn't understand the Protocol when she referred to hypothyroidism rather than the hypothalamus, which is the organ that is 're-set' by hCG to improve the metabolism and reduce the cravings/appetite.
I find it interesting the the 'Registered DIETician' states that she doesn't promote diets!!!
I did not want to trot out my credentials, however I do have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University and am highly qualified to do scientific research. I am not impressed with anyone who is a Nutritionist or Dietician after seeing the kinds of foods that those 'professionals' recommend serving to our children in our schools and to patients in our hospitals, both of which indicate to me that these people have no training of any significance in what foods are healthy at all!
It is now fairly common knowledge that physicians haven't a clue when it comes to nutrition. They are given about a semester of training in their academic curriculum on the subject and it is a rare doctor who will suggest that changing one's diet is the solution to an illness, although this, after my extensive research and experience, is the most important information one can have to combat most any ailment!
